Okra contains a toxic compound called solanine which can trigger inflammation of the joints, and arthritis, and prolong existing inflammation. Other foods that cause a similar issue are tomatoes, blueberries, eggplant, potatoes, and artichokes.

Blood clotting

Okra has high vitamin K content. Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting. Eating excess okra can cause problems for people taking blood-thinning medication like Coumadin or Warfarin. Blood thinners are used to prevent blood clots which may induce a heart attack or stroke.
