Although he is jesting, Mr Lee actually pointed out the almost sibling relationship that Barbie and Ken end up having in the new film. In a recent viral Tik Tok explaining why Barbie doesn't like Ken, Elle's Alyssa Bailey says, "Barbie didn't reciprocate his romantic feelings for her. It leads him to express his agony in a now-viral song (“I'm Just Ken”)."
Even Magort Robbie who plays Barbie says she played Barbie in a way that wasn't fueled by romantic desires which also may have contributed to her lack of feelings for Ken.
