'Omukazi omuwulidde?' Uganda writer Kemiyondo gives Black-American show a taste of Luganda

A clip of Luganda-speaking characters has been praised for "selling local language, Luganda, in Hollywood". The excerpt is from the show "P-Valley", a Black American TV show that follows a group of people who work at a strip club.

".....Omukazi omuwulide?" ("Have you heard the woman?") one of the characters says. "Maani, nange ndaba nsowera simanyi nsajja na nkazi" ('I see houseflies, I don't know which is male or female.") Later on, one of the characters also uses Luganda to ask for the washrooms.

The inclusivity is attributed to Uganda writer Kemiyondo Coutinho. Kemiyondo is a Ugandan playwright, actress, writer, executive story editor, director, and executive producer. She is based in Los Angeles.
