Kabaka Mutebi while officially opening the first Lukiiko after his 30th coronation anniversary, cautioned the new leaders not to disappoint him and their Kingdom while executing their duties.
Instead, he said, the Ministers should use their offices to lead by example and to ensure proper service delivery to the people.
“The new leaders must lead by example. You must be listeners and work with determination and without treachery,” instructed the Monarch
“We want our youths to admire your leadership. We want you to show that you can give good leadership and service to our people while following laws and tradition.”
Kabaka Mutebi on August 1, 2023, unveiled his new Cabinet, in which he dropped some of the ministers, maintained, and also promoted others.
These dropped were Ministers James Kyewalabye Male, Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu, and Dr Prosperous Nankindu.
Kiwalabye has been serving as the Kingdom Minister of Heritage, Palaces, and Tombs; Ssekabembe was the Minister for Youths, Sports, and Recreation while Nankindu has been the Minister of Social Services in the Office of the Nnabagereka.
Kyewalabye was replaced by Anthony Wamala, Sekabembe by Robert Sserwanga; while Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko took over from Nankindu.
All the Ministers during Monday’s meeting, prostrated before the King to thank him for their new offices.
In turn, the King congratulated the officials and wished them good luck.
He also thanked the outgoing ministers for their diligent work.
During the Lukiiko, Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga rallied the new leadership to execute their duties while bearing in mind the king’s previous call for Baganda to “not fall asleep.”
“We shall work very hard, and remind the Kingdom of what our King demands of us, in order to bring Buganda back to the top,” said the Premier.
The Lukiiko was attended among others by the Nnabagereka, Princes Jjunju, Wasajja and Princes Katrina Ssangalyambo.
