EC announces Kawempe North preliminary results; Luyimbazi enjoys early lead 

The Electoral Commission has started releasing preliminary results from the Kawempe North byelection.

The announced results showed NUP candidate Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola enjoying a slight margin against his main challenger, the NRM’s Faridah Nambi 

Results from some of the polling stations, however, showed the two going neck to neck

During the announcement exercise, opposition NUP's agents were seen occasionally challenging some of the results being read by Henry Makabayi, the election returning officer.

Makabayi in response, set aside some of questioned DR forms, promising to revisit them.
