Kabza, real name Kabelo Petrus Monsa, was supposed to be the main act at the festival slated for Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6, at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The BOK showrunners announced the sad development at an impromptu press conference on Friday evening.
“There’s been some small changes to our lineup; DJ Kabza will not be with us because he lost his elder brother,” said Godwin Kato, the CEO La Paroni’s, the concert organizers.
“His management will be putting out a statement later this evening,” he added.
Meanwhile, DJ Nasty, the other show headliner jetted in this afternoon. He will be performing first on Saturday and not Sunday as earlier planned.
Kato also revealed that the management of Kabza, has agreed to send in DJ Maphorisa, another top Amapiano figure in his stead. Maphorisa has been in Uganda twice and headlined the first edition of the Best of Kampala.
The rest of the lineup remains unchanged. The performers lined up include among others Tango Supreme, Fully Focus, PCEE & Justin99, DJ Higa & DJ Rusam.
Natasha Mbaziira, the festival head of hospitality said the show will be fire as planned, despite the setback.
“Everyone else is coming as announced; so it will be back-to-back action. Be sure to keep time. This small hiccup should not discourage you from coming," she said.
Tickets are still on sale on Quicket at Shs 120k for a one day pass and 200k for the two days.
